Software Engineer – Missions Software

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and enhance the automation and services essential for the operation of Planet’s satellites. This encompasses, but is not limited to:

• Define and implement new HTTP APIs and assist in improving existing ones.

• Assess and select suitable software technologies.

• Design and establish critical infrastructure.

• Collaborate with a team that prioritizes open and honest communication, teamwork, self-learning, and initiative to tackle problems, both large and small.

• Work closely with various teams across Planet, including Satellite and Ground Operations, Pipeline, and Product teams to ensure that the satellite constellation fulfills all requirements to achieve Planet’s missions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

• 2–3 years of pertinent work experience.

• Proficiency in Python programming.

• Experience in API design.

• Familiarity with automated testing, code reviews, and documentation.

• Knowledge of relational database technologies (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, etc.).

• Experience in maintaining peer-reviewed code and continuous integration and deployment workflows and tools like GitLab CI and Docker or similar.

• Strong Linux skills.

• Capacity to independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
