This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, test, integrate, and sustain cloud-native software applications and services.
• Create backend services, APIs, microservices, and additional application components for enterprise data and catalog functionalities.
• Architect and integrate databases, object storage, metadata, tagging, search, indexing, and data retrieval solutions.
• Develop and maintain software that supports event-driven and distributed architectures.
• Create automation for application deployment, integration, testing, configuration, and ongoing operational support.
• Develop containerized applications and facilitate deployment to Kubernetes-based cloud environments.
• Integrate software into CI/CD pipelines and Government-managed GitLab repositories.
• Maintain and enhance operational applications through troubleshooting, bug fixing, performance optimization, refactoring, and minor capability upgrades.
• Provide support for catalog management, object storage, enterprise search, source citation, metadata management, and related enterprise data services.
• Develop secure software adhering to cybersecurity, Zero Trust, and secure software development methodologies.
• Create automated unit, integration, and system tests.
• Collaborate with software engineers, DevSecOps engineers, architects, product owners, Scrum Masters, and Government technical stakeholders.
• Engage in Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and technical design discussions.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API/interface documentation, software dependencies, deployment guides, and user or integration manuals.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance when necessary.
• Assess existing systems and propose enhancements to architecture, performance, maintainability, reliability, and scalability.
• Must be eligible to secure a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Must possess a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in software development.
• Significant experience in developing production software in a contemporary programming language.
• Experience in creating backend services, APIs, distributed applications, or full-stack applications.
• Familiarity with databases and persistent data storage solutions.
• Proficient in source control, automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience in software development within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Ability to independently resolve complex technical challenges and devise solutions based on customer needs.
• Strong skills in technical communication and documentation.
• Desired: Active U.S. Security Clearance.
• Desired: Knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies like Docker.
• Desired: Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or Department of Defense cloud platforms.
• Desired: Familiarity with infrastructure, deployment, or configuration automation.
• Desired: Experience with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD.
• Desired: Understanding of microservices and distributed system architectures.
• Desired: Knowledge of event-driven architectures, messaging, or publish/subscribe patterns.
• Desired: Experience with RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and service integration.
• Desired: Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Desired: Familiarity with object storage technologies.
• Desired: Experience with enterprise search, indexing, or search platforms.
• Desired: Knowledge of metadata management, tagging, data catalogs, or data discovery platforms.
• Desired: Secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
• Desired: Automated unit, integration, regression, and system testing experience.
• Desired: Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, observability, and performance optimization.
• Desired: User interface development experience using modern web frameworks for full-stack roles.
• Desired: Experience developing software for DoD or Intelligence Community environments.
• Desired: Relevant Scrum or Agile certification.
• Desired: Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.
