Software Engineer – Market Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the systems and services that constitute the backbone of Alpaca, enabling millions of users to trade assets.

• Optimize Alpaca’s architecture for market data offerings, which encompass stocks, options, cryptocurrencies, and foreign exchange.

• Manage the public API structure and documentation for both streaming and historical endpoints.

• Strategize, brainstorm, experiment, and launch new services and libraries into production.

• Create highly scalable and mission-critical market data provider services.

• Ensure software quality and maintain adequate test coverage.

• Engage in code review processes.

• Diagnose incidents and resolve reported bugs.

⛳️ Requirements

• BSc/MSc or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• At least 3 years of experience in backend software development.

• Practical experience with Docker or Kubernetes.

• A DevOps-oriented mindset.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Experience in building and architecting large-scale systems.

• Profound understanding of POSIX-like operating systems, contemporary infrastructure, and orchestration techniques.

• Nice-to-have: experience with large datasets.

• Nice-to-have: experience with Kubernetes; CKA or CKAD certification is advantageous.

• Nice-to-have: SQL proficiency.

• Nice-to-have: IP networking knowledge.

• Nice-to-have: understanding of financial markets.

• Nice-to-have: experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Nice-to-have: skills in shell scripting, Linux, and Docker.

• Nice-to-have: familiarity with microservice architectures.

• Nice-to-have: adherence to clean code principles.

• The tech stack includes GoLang, Python, REST, gRPC, WebSockets, SSE, Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Services, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
