Software Engineer Level II, Java/Angular

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain software solutions that facilitate business operations and align with company objectives.

• Conduct analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and application support.

• Create new applications and systems, improve or upgrade current systems, and offer production support.

• Operate independently on moderately complex projects with general guidance.

• Mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.

• Gather stakeholder requests and system specifications, translating them into design specifications, source code, test scripts, and results.

• Collaborate with software architects and Software Engineer IVs to ensure engineering work complies with Enterprise Architecture principles and software development best practices.

• Complete application design, coding, code reviews, and testing as part of Agile teams.

• Update the Agile team and Agile Program Manager on project status.

• Advise stakeholders on efficient and effective strategies to achieve project and program goals.

• Monitor and communicate engineering risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.

• Manage interdependencies and resolve challenges with other project and program areas.

• Assist business units with complex user inquiries and issues in accordance with production support processes and SLAs.

• Stay informed about new technologies, software engineering standards, practices, and tools.

• Contribute to product roadmaps and provide high-level estimates.

• Work with IT management on establishing documentation and engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates.

• Work the night shift.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in software development, particularly with Java.

• In-depth knowledge of specialized software engineering best practices, methods, and techniques.

• Significant experience in developing software applications on the designated technology platform.

• Comprehensive understanding of source code change management and associated tools.

• Familiarity with Agile software development principles, processes, and tools.

• Proficient in Java, SQL, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, and CSS.

• Experience with scalable, high-availability back-end database technologies, primarily SQL Server.

• Expertise in building microservices with Spring Boot and creating and consuming APIs.

• Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, accessibility, and responsive design.

• Experience in UI/UX development.

• Background in insurance/reinsurance systems and data.

• Strong grasp of server-side software, scalability, performance, and reliability.

• Solid understanding of the OSI model, networking, operating-system layers, and services.

• Familiarity with continuous-delivery tools like Chef, Puppet, and Salt.

• Understanding of continuous-integration and deployment tools such as Octopus Deploy and Jenkins.

• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, Windows, IIS, Linux, Tomcat, JBoss, Visio, T-SQL, SSIS, and shell scripting.

• Knowledge of reporting tools like Power BI and SSRS.

• Excellent skills in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending English.

• Ability to clarify and simplify technology for non-technical individuals.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional customer service abilities for supporting end-users and business-owner systems.

• Familiarity with production support processes, including incident and problem management techniques.
