This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the architectural design of autonomous robotic systems by defining subsystem interfaces and integration strategies.
• Create and develop real-time control systems for autonomous robots and vehicles.
• Design motion planning, path planning, and trajectory optimization algorithms.
• Construct sensor fusion algorithms to enhance localization, mapping, and situational awareness.
• Integrate multi-modal perception systems, including cameras, LiDAR, and radar, with control and decision-making subsystems.
• Optimize algorithms to fulfill real-time performance, latency, and robustness criteria.
• Develop and refine computer vision and object detection/tracking algorithms tailored for robotic applications.
• Implement perception pipelines to facilitate autonomous navigation and task execution.
• Assess and incorporate emerging computer vision and machine learning models.
• Ensure perception systems achieve reliability and latency standards necessary for mission-critical operations.
• Write production-grade software using C++, Python, and other relevant programming languages.
• Design and enhance real-time software for Linux-based systems and embedded platforms.
• Create real-time software interfaces that work with embedded systems, sensors, and actuators.
• Execute a distributed systems architecture for intricate robotic platforms.
• Spearhead system-level integration and comprehensive end-to-end testing initiatives.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on power system design, sensor integration, and actuator control.
• Develop firmware and software interfaces for motor controllers, power distribution, and sensor electronics.
• Assist in the electrical testing and troubleshooting of robotic hardware systems.
• Evaluate and recommend electrical components, such as sensors, actuators, and embedded controllers, guided by software requirements.
• Ensure the software architecture aligns with electrical system constraints and performance goals.
• Provide senior-level technical mentorship and guidance to engineering teams.
• Establish and uphold coding standards, testing methodologies, and quality metrics.
• Lead the derivation, tracking, and compliance assessment of requirements.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, system diagrams, and architectural models.
• Diagnose complex system-level issues and implement lasting solutions.
• Direct investigations into failures and performance discrepancies.
• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering focused on robotics, autonomous systems, or real-time control.
• Proficient in C++ with expertise in Python and other relevant languages.
• Strong background in robotics algorithms, including motion planning and control theory.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 or similar real-time frameworks.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time software development.
• Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Capability to obtain Department of Defense Secret clearance as a U.S. person (due to export control requirements).
