Software Engineer – Infrastructure Security

📋 Description

• Develop workload identity infrastructure that integrates short-lived identity credentials as a standard component of every application's runtime environment.

• Implement identity-based authentication for internal services utilizing identity certificates, establishing them as the preferred method for new applications.

• Lead the transition of existing internal services from outdated authentication methods.

• Substitute static passwords and service tokens with short-lived identity credentials.

• Create identity-authenticated egress proxies and API abstractions that automatically inject and rotate managed secrets for external dependencies.

• Establish a unified interface and framework to centrally manage and enforce authorization policies.

• Collaborate with application platform owners and stakeholders of internal dependencies.

• Promote adoption among engineering teams while ensuring security remains seamless.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, emphasizing security-focused platforms, infrastructure, or distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in secrets management, fine-grained authorization, and workload identity systems.

• Knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem and authentication/authorization technologies, including JWTs, X.509 certificates, PKI, cert-manager, SPIFFE/SPIRE, and OPA.

• Experience in building and managing production infrastructure that other teams rely on, with a focus on availability and failure modes.

• Proven track record of promoting cross-team adoption of platform capabilities or leading large-scale migrations.

• Extensive knowledge of authentication and authorization methods, particularly JWTs and X.509 certificates.
