Software Engineer II, Foundation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP utilizing Terraform.

• Manage and enhance multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters (EKS), covering node lifecycle, upgrades, security contexts, and networking choices.

• Take ownership of the operational aspects involved in migrating from managed Kafka (MSK) to WarpStream.

• Create and uphold tools for streaming infrastructure.

• Contribute to platform tooling and reconciliers using Go and the Kubernetes API.

• Establish self-service infrastructure primitives for engineering teams.

• Design and oversee networking and security infrastructure, which includes transit gateways, GCP interconnect, ingress, security groups, IAM policies, and IRSA.

• Engage in on-call rotations and address infrastructure incidents.

• Document and enhance runbooks while automating recurring incident patterns.

• Report directly to the Senior Manager of Platform Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure engineering.

• Practical experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, IAM, S3, and VPC.

• Solid understanding of Kubernetes in a production environment.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code; Terraform is strongly preferred, while Pulumi or CloudFormation is also acceptable.

• Proficient in at least one of Go, Python, or shell scripting; Go is preferred.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Argo, or Jenkins.

• Direct experience with on-call duties and incident response.

• Experience in building Kubernetes operators or controllers is a plus.

• Knowledge of Kafka, WarpStream, or similar event-driven systems is advantageous.

• Expertise in networking, including VPCs, transit gateways, ingress controllers, DNS, load balancing, and security groups, is beneficial.

• Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO-27001, or similar is advantageous.

• Familiarity with GitOps patterns such as ArgoCD or Flux is a plus.
