Software Engineer – Fullstack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Provide comprehensive product capabilities encompassing frontend, backend, API, and data layers.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack functionalities.

• Create frontend user experiences utilizing TypeScript, React, or comparable technologies.

• Build and enhance backend services using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and similar tools.

• Design, execute, and refine RESTful APIs.

• Model, query, and manage application data with PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases.

• Contribute to microservices architecture and ensure dependable, maintainable integrations.

• Take ownership of moderately complex features from technical discovery through to implementation, testing, release, and support.

• Break down work into incremental deliverables while identifying risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.

• Troubleshoot cross-stack issues and drive them to resolution.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, Data Science, QA, and engineering teams.

• Engage in planning, demos, retrospectives, technical discussions, code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

• Enhance test coverage, observability, documentation, reliability, maintainability, and performance.

• Recognize technical debt and contribute to strategies for addressing it.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential for written, virtual, and in-person interactions.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on software development experience, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven experience in developing production software across frontend and backend systems.

• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, or similar frontend frameworks is required.

• Knowledge of Kotlin and Spring Boot, or comparable backend service technologies is necessary.

• Experience in designing, consuming, or maintaining RESTful APIs is essential.

• Comfortable working with microservices architecture and concepts of distributed systems.

• Proficient with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies, including fundamentals of data modeling.

• Understanding of software testing principles and experience in writing automated tests is required.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

• Experience working collaboratively with remote, hybrid, or distributed teams.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity, networking, or related technical domains is preferred.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud-native deployment workflows is preferred.

• Experience enhancing reliability, maintainability, observability, or performance in production systems is preferred.

• Experience contributing to API design standards, service boundaries, or data modeling decisions is preferred.

• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers is preferred.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.

• Must be authorized to work in Costa Rica.
