Software Engineer, Backend – Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance Hex’s API and CLI to create effective and user-friendly workflows

• Architect MCP server and client solutions

• Design and execute advanced access control systems, including RBAC, admin request/approval processes, and tiered admin roles

• Take ownership of full-stack product modifications from backend policy enforcement to admin-oriented workflows

• Ensure that enterprise features are user-friendly, dependable, and secure

• Suggest and implement well-structured, scalable systems in collaboration with the wider Hex team

• Broaden the functionalities, reach, and usability of Hex’s agentic analytics platform

• Create features that allow Hex’s AI agent to function across diverse customer segments and platforms, including APIs, MCP, and command-line interfaces

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend or full-stack software engineering experience

• Proficient in developing systems with complex architectures and intricate business logic

• Strong interest in and/or experience with creating cutting-edge agentic workflows that involve multiple systems and tools

• Experience in a remote-first work environment

• Excellent communication skills tailored for remote contexts

• Familiarity with RFCs, code review processes, and architectural discussions

• Practical knowledge of enterprise integrations: SSO, SCIM-based provisioning, audit logs, MFA, and delegated access

• Strategic mindset that aligns business and product objectives with engineering excellence

• Openness to making modifications throughout the stack

• Proficient in TypeScript, React, Apollo GraphQL, Redux, Express, Postgres, Redis, Kubernetes, Python, Terraform, Helm, AWS, and CI/CD

• Legally authorized to work in the US

• Must not require visa sponsorship at present or in the future
