Software Engineer – AWS, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Create, enhance, support, and maintain scalable internal applications leveraging AWS, Python, SQL, Stored Procedures, Step Functions, Lambda, API Gateway, and Glue.

• Develop serverless functions and microservices to implement application features and manage data-processing workflows.

• Work collaboratively with data teams to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions.

• Architect and implement scalable data architectures utilizing AWS cloud services, including data lakes, data warehouses, bulk data ingestion, and transaction processing.

• Construct and manage ETL pipelines with AWS Glue and Python to ingest, transform, and enrich data.

• Integrate APIs, batch jobs, and real-time data streams through Lambda, Glue, Kinesis, Step Functions, and S3.

• Manage and optimize Redshift, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases via RDS/Aurora.

• Monitor and enhance backend applications and data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Implement strategies for caching, partitioning, and batching.

• Ensure backend services and data flows comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA.

• Develop access control and data protection strategies.

• Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and engineers to translate business requirements into backend solutions.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the development team.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and establish backend development standards.

• Promote automation and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Implement DevOps CI/CD pipelines for existing and new products.

• Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance code, processes, and systems for improved efficiency and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Informatics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.

• Over 5 years of experience in software development or a related role, showcasing proven technical leadership.

• Strong software development expertise and prior experience with Python, SQL, Stored Procedures, AWS Lambda, API, and Glue.

• Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases, including query authoring, views, stored procedures, and triggers within an AWS Cloud environment.

• Familiarity with Redshift, Aurora, PostgreSQL, or comparable RDBMS.

• Experience working with healthcare claims data, such as HL7, Medical Claims, Rx Claims, or similar healthcare data.

• Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
