This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design the core behavior planning: Take ownership of the logic and decision-making frameworks that direct the vehicle through intricate maneuvers, such as unprotected turns, dynamic merges, and yielding.
• Enhance trajectory optimization: Create robust systems for trajectory generation that effectively balance safety, passenger comfort, and vehicle advancement.
• Guarantee verifiable safety: Convert intricate traffic regulations and operational design domain (ODD) constraints into clear, highly safe planning behaviors.
• Address long-tail scenarios: Confront stimulating, real-world edge cases, ranging from unpredictable pedestrians and obstructions to complicated construction zones.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration: Work closely to seamlessly integrate your planner with perception, prediction, localization, and control modules.
• Conduct testing and validation: Validate your solutions through thorough scenario-based simulations, closed-course testing, and real-world on-road evaluations.
• Optimize for real-time performance: Achieve robust, highly deterministic output tailored for embedded automotive hardware.
• MS/PhD in robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proficient in C++ for creating robust, real-time systems, along with Python for tooling and data analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of both planning algorithms (search, sampling, and optimization-based) and complex decision architectures (such as FSMs and behavior trees).
• Strong understanding of vehicle kinematics and dynamics to ensure safe, smooth, and realistic motion profiles.
• Practical experience with ROS/ROS2 or similar autonomous middleware.
• Experience deploying a planner on public roads and analyzing real-world disengagement data (not mandatory but advantageous).
• Familiarity with tools like CARLA or custom in-house scenario frameworks (not mandatory but advantageous).
• Competitive health insurance options
• 401K plan management
• Remote-friendly and flexible team culture
• Free lunch and a fully-stocked kitchen in our South Bay office
• Additional perks: monthly wellness stipend, office setup allowance, company retreats, and more to come as we expand
• The chance to engage in one of the most intriguing, impactful challenges of the decade
