Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software solutions for the Whitespace Answers Platform and the Iris AI ecosystem.

• Create backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and analytical applications utilizing contemporary software engineering methodologies.

• Produce clean, efficient, maintainable, and testable code primarily in Python and Java.

• Collaborate with Agile teams to devise technical solutions for intricate geospatial and data-centric challenges.

• Engage in software releases, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

• Enhance current applications through performance optimization, automation, and architectural improvements.

• Offer technical consultation and troubleshooting support for software and infrastructure challenges.

• Gather, integrate, clean, and analyze extensive geospatial and non-geospatial datasets.

• Create and execute statistical models, machine learning workflows, and geospatial analytics solutions.

• Design and sustain scalable data processing pipelines for both structured and unstructured data.

• Recognize trends, anomalies, patterns, and insights within commercial and geospatial datasets.

• Develop interactive visualizations and mission-oriented analytical products for customer stakeholders.

• Conduct cloud-based data research and large-scale data processing.

• Work alongside engineering, R&D, and mission teams to create new analytical capabilities and data products.

• Support initiatives in intelligence, targeting, collection management, geospatial analysis, and activity-based intelligence.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in a software engineering position is required.

• Experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software systems.

• Strong coding skills with a focus on quality and testability in your deliverables.

• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, and Go.

• Comprehensive understanding of DevOps and software/application development methodologies.

• Proven experience with continuous integration and software configuration management processes/tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Kubernetes, or other DevOps/Continuous Integration tools).

• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and expertise in query optimization.

• Experience in gathering client requirements and addressing workflow issues through automation optimization.
