Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of backend features throughout their lifecycle: from discovery and design to implementation, rollout, and ongoing reliability and operations, with assistance from more experienced colleagues when necessary.

• Assist in designing and enhancing distributed systems (services, pipelines, and data stores) focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience.

• Create and maintain APIs and data access patterns that facilitate analytics and search applications.

• Develop, sustain, and optimize scalable data pipelines that support product features, analytics, and machine learning tasks.

• Guarantee data reliability, quality, and performance across our systems, while monitoring and troubleshooting pipelines for consistent and timely delivery.

• Cultivate strong engineering practices: engage in thorough code reviews, implement solid testing, ensure incident readiness, and strive for operational excellence.

• Adopt an experimentation-first mindset: establish hypotheses and success metrics/guardrails, conduct controlled rollouts and A/B tests as appropriate, and compose clear reports for stakeholders.

• Utilize AI coding tools such as Claude Code effectively and responsibly within your development process—covering implementation, debugging, refactoring, and design reviews—while upholding high standards of correctness, security, and privacy.

• Maintain evaluation rigor in AI-assisted tasks: treat prompts and configurations as versioned artifacts, design regression tests, monitor quality changes, and track drift just as you would for performance or correctness.

• Commit to continuous growth: actively pursue feedback, rapidly learn new tools, languages, and domains, and apply your knowledge to your work.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and fellow Engineers to deliver intelligent, data-driven products.

• Share knowledge with teammates through clear documentation, pairing, and participation in code reviews.

• Document systems, pipelines, and architecture, while contributing to the evolution of our engineering best practices.

• Stay updated with emerging tools, frameworks, and trends in software, data, and AI engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of professional software engineering experience in building backend systems, with a desire to tackle larger challenges in distributed systems.

• A growth mindset characterized by curiosity, a habit of quickly learning new tools and domains, and receptiveness to feedback.

• Strong general-purpose programming abilities along with solid software engineering fundamentals.

• Proficient debugging skills with the capability to troubleshoot and performance-tune production services.

• Strong SQL and data modeling expertise.

• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows.

• Comfort in utilizing AI coding assistants such as Claude Code within your workflow, along with the discipline to substantiate outputs (tests, metrics, evaluations) rather than accepting them uncritically.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across different functions.
