Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Sustain and enhance the platform utilized daily by healthcare professionals.

• Implement features comprehensively, from Postgres and API services to UI optimization and user experience improvements.

• Develop new clinical document types, including prompt evaluations, editor views, and secure feature-flagged releases.

• Enhance document generation efficiency and cost-effectiveness by tracking requests, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing models, prompts, and retry policies.

• Create integrations with practice management systems like Best Practice and EMIS, as well as healthcare standards such as FHIR and HL7.

• Analyze production incidents using tools like Sentry, CloudWatch, and Langfuse to address root causes.

• Decompose feature tasks into clear, deliverable steps.

• Review colleagues' code and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards.

• Collaborate closely with the Product Engineer and engineering leadership to translate the roadmap into deployable work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in production-level TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks, preferably Svelte and SvelteKit.

• Strong Python expertise, including data structures, asynchronous programming, and API development with FastAPI and Pydantic.

• Practical experience integrating large language models into products, involving prompt engineering, structured output, streaming, and managing latency and costs.

• Solid skills in Postgres and SQL, including schema design, indexing, and query performance optimization.

• Experience in deploying and managing software on AWS.

• Familiarity with Docker.

• Good practices in observability and testing.

• Versatile and confident in working across the entire tech stack.

• Experience in healthcare integrations such as FHIR, HL7, EMIS, or Best Practice is a plus.

• Familiarity with Supabase or Temporal is a plus.

• Experience in safeguarding personal data in text using tools like Presidio, llm-guard, or spaCy is a plus.

• Familiarity with ProseMirror, TinyMCE, browser audio capture, or real-time streaming is a plus.

• Basic understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA and front-end performance optimization is a plus.
