Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Independently design, test, and debug code

• Decompose features into engineering tasks and collaborate with fellow engineers to accomplish them

• Engage in game development and associated tools

• Complete designated engineering tasks promptly

• Test and document solutions for developer evaluation and learning purposes

• Produce clear, maintainable code that meets senior engineer standards

• Provide estimates for tasks and ensure timely delivery

• Communicate any blockers to the feature lead or project manager

• Adhere to software engineering best practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle

• Take responsibility for medium-sized features by breaking them into actionable tasks

• Collaborate with non-engineering teams to deliver features

• Enhance AI logic and integrate features alongside game designers and artists

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of professional software development experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or relevant professional experience

• For candidates based in Japan: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 1 year in the video game industry

• For overseas candidates: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 4 years in the video game industry

• Proficiency in C++ and C#, with experience in Go

• Proven software engineering capabilities

• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems

• Experience with multiple programming languages

• At least conversational proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N3 or higher)

• Sufficient English proficiency to read, write, and discuss technical topics

• Strong foundation in software development principles, design theory, and development methodologies

• Exceptional debugging skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Willingness to collaborate within a team and engage in technical discussions

• Enthusiasm for learning from reviews and constructive feedback

• Strong personal time management skills
