This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +35 more states.
• Design and maintain backend microservices utilizing TypeScript and NestJS, deployed through AWS ECS.
• Create, implement, and document secure and efficient RESTful APIs.
• Transition legacy AWS Lambda serverless functions to containerized ECS services while refactoring older systems.
• Work collaboratively with front-end and mobile development teams, product managers, and designers to deliver comprehensive features.
• Clarify project requirements, review design proposals, and ensure seamless integration across various services.
• Write clean, tested code; engage in peer code reviews; and uphold unit and integration testing standards.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines.
• Take responsibility for service reliability, monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and reduce downtime.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, approximately one week per rotation.
• Over 4 years of professional software engineering experience in developing backend or full-stack applications within a cloud environment.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js; hands-on experience with backend frameworks, with a strong preference for NestJS or similar frameworks like Express/Koa, along with a willingness to learn NestJS.
• Comprehensive understanding of AWS services and architecture; experience in deploying and managing containerized applications using AWS ECS, EKS, or comparable services.
• Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and utilizing RESTful APIs, including considerations for API security and performance.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Proficiency with caching mechanisms like Redis; ability to write optimized queries and enhance data access.
• Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools, including CloudWatch and Datadog.
• Capability to work across various services and technology stacks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on knowledge sharing and proactive problem-solving.
• Authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
• Preferred qualifications include knowledge of microservice design patterns, REST, gRPC, message queues, API gateways, service mesh, Claude Code or similar AI coding assistants, DevOps/SRE practices, Stripe products, and experience with Apple App Store or Google Play subscription platforms.
