Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Provide support for mission-critical NCMC-ITW/AA and CCIC2S enterprise network initiatives related to NORAD and national defense operations.

• Act as a member of a government-led agile scenario development team.

• Evaluate simulation requirements and propose suitable design levels within budget and schedule constraints.

• Collaborate with government team leaders and vendors to enhance and maintain simulations.

• Manage the installation and removal of simulations.

• Create applications utilizing scientific and mathematical models for predicting design consequences, data analysis, simulation validation, and data reduction.

• Develop and adjust scenarios and analytical tools for testing communities.

• Participate in agile meetings, such as daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and program increment planning sessions.

• Analyze and break down user requirements into tasks that are ready for sprints.

• Construct and document test cases, and perform statistically significant testing and analysis.

• Write modular, well-documented code and deliver source code following industry best practices.

• Create test plans, test reports, test procedures, data analysis plans, scenario documents, verification and validation reports, and training materials.

• Present or assist in delivering results briefings.

• Define and document simulation requirements and performance criteria.

• Develop user-friendly GUI-based toolsets using programming languages like Python 3 and MATLAB.

• Collaborate with testing and operational staff to ensure that solutions align with user requirements.

• Work with government team members and leverage existing tools and scenarios wherever feasible.

• Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations approximately 10–20% as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and be eligible for TS clearance.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and twelve (12) years of experience in the relevant technical discipline, including five (5) years of experience with the DoD; OR Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten (10) years of experience in the relevant technical discipline, including five (5) years of experience with the DoD.

• Proficient in Java, Perl, Visual Basic, the C Family, SQL, Python 3, and MATLAB.

• Familiarity with the complete software development life cycle from requirements gathering to deployment.

• Knowledge of software engineering principles and industry best practices, including agile methodologies.

• Extensive knowledge, experience, and proven expertise in the technical/professional area as a Senior Software Engineer.

• Capability to oversee and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Thorough understanding and experience with DevSecOps processes and solutions.

• Experience with virtualization and containerization platforms and software.

• Background in working with relational and non-relational databases.
