Software Engineer – AI Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Recognize repetitive operational tasks and develop automation solutions to reduce manual efforts.

• Execute Infrastructure as Code using Terraform in various AWS environments.

• Automate governance and compliance evaluations across different accounts and resources.

• Create self-service deployment options for engineering and data teams.

• Streamline cost reporting and remediation processes, including managing idle resources, rightsizing, and scheduling.

• Develop operational dashboards and alerts to enhance visibility and incident management.

• Enhance CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, branching methodologies, automated testing, and promotion strategies.

• Coordinate operational workflows utilizing AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, Lambda, and Systems Manager.

• Work collaboratively with platform, data, and security teams to establish standards, guardrails, and best practices.

• Provide Terraform modules and Infrastructure as Code solutions for the platform.

• Create automated operational runbooks, compliance automation, cost optimization automation, and deployment pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering roles.

• Extensive knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies (modules, state management, environments).

• Practical experience with AWS Step Functions, Amazon EventBridge, AWS Systems Manager, and AWS Lambda.

• Familiarity with GitHub and the development of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).

• Basic understanding of AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, Amazon S3, and Amazon EC2.

• Proficient scripting and development skills in Python and SQL.

• Experience in implementing monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards (like CloudWatch or equivalent).

• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies, SDLC, and contemporary engineering best practices.

• Location in Costa Rica, specifically Heredia, CR, 40101.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS Config, Security Hub, policy-as-code tools, FinOps practices and tools, multi-account AWS configurations, AI-assisted engineering tools, AWS certifications, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
