Software Engineer, Ad Serving Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage backend services that operate reliably at scale — from your initial commit to production.

• Engage with distributed systems, concurrency, and asynchronous processing — along with the potential failure modes they present.

• Analyze and optimize for performance and efficiency, where selecting the appropriate data structure or addressing a single bottleneck can make a significant impact.

• Take an unclear production symptom and methodically trace it back to the root cause.

• Integrate with caching, streaming, and data-storage solutions — and equip your services with instrumentation to ensure they remain debuggable when issues arise.

• Release in small, reviewable increments through automated pipelines, ensuring the code is clearer than when you received it.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in creating production backend systems — proficient in Scala or Java, with the ability to write Python for tooling, automation, and data tasks.

• Profound understanding of data structures and algorithms — you instinctively select the appropriate structure and can evaluate time and space complexity, rather than merely reciting Big-O.

• Strong understanding of concurrency and asynchronous programming — along with the discipline required for high-throughput systems.

• Proficient with CI/CD practices. You view automated build, test, and deployment pipelines as integral to feature development — not merely an additional task — and you know how to deploy safely and revert quickly if issues arise.

• Familiarity with AI technologies, particularly coding agents. You utilize tools like Claude Code or Codex — not just as a novelty, but to enhance efficiency, tackle larger modifications, and navigate unfamiliar code. We expect this to be a fundamental aspect of your work, and we seek individuals who can push it beyond our current capabilities.

• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. You challenge assumptions — including your own — before finalizing a solution, and can justify your decisions based on their merits.

• Strong sense of ownership. You take full responsibility for what you deliver: you don't just pass code along, and "not my service" is not part of your language.
