Software Development Manager, Observability Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead a high-impact team that garners significant visibility.

• Define the concept of observability at Wealthsimple, articulate a comprehensive multi-year roadmap, and ensure alignment between engineering and leadership.

• Develop the wide-event data model and establish the golden paths based on it.

• Propel the company's detection and reliability objectives.

• Enhance production clarity for AI agents.

• Conduct experiments and validate the effectiveness of pilot projects.

• Manage the strategy for tools and vendors.

• Maintain a hands-on approach.

• Accelerate progress with AI tooling.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, emphasizing a software development background rather than a focus on operations or systems administration.

• More than 3 years of engineering management experience, guiding engineers and executing complex technical projects through periods of growth and transformation.

• Direct, hands-on experience in building an observability or telemetry platform.

• Familiarity with event-driven systems.

• Proven track record in developing SDKs and shared platforms within a platform or foundations engineering team.

• Proficiency in open standards and instrumentation.

• Capability to establish a vision and mission, guiding an organization towards those goals.

• Comfort in conducting experiments.

• Strong leadership skills in managing people.

• Ability to collaborate and influence across different boundaries.
