This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Leading, inspiring, and developing a team of software engineers as they tackle intricate challenges in the Financial Services sector.
• Directly and indirectly overseeing a team through collaboration and mentorship of a Technical Lead Staff Engineer.
• Collaborating closely with architects, product teams, engineering leadership, and stakeholders to synchronize team priorities and roadmaps.
• Identifying, articulating, and eliminating obstacles and risks to delivery, both within the team and across the broader Financial Services organization.
• Planning and enhancing the professional development of individual team members, which includes conducting 1-on-1 meetings, performance evaluations, ongoing feedback, goal-setting, and promotions.
• Reporting progress and status updates to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
• Sourcing and recruiting top talent for your team and the larger organization.
• Offering technical and process-oriented guidance to the team during the delivery phase.
• Proven experience in leading a team of developers to successfully deliver software products.
• Expertise in delivering microservice-oriented, scalable, cloud-based applications.
• Strong proficiency in Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python.
• Professional background in agile development and best practices for continuous delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to personally coach, mentor, and motivate individuals as well as the overall team.
• A strong enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement.
• A quality-focused mindset emphasizing software scalability and resilience.
• Experience in the Payments sector (preferred).
• Background in developing scalable SaaS solutions (preferred).
• Experience in full-stack web application development (preferred).
• Solid understanding of cloud services, particularly AWS and GCP (preferred).
• Project Management or Scrum Master experience, or formal training (preferred).
• Experience in test automation and/or DevOps engineering (preferred).
