Software Development Engineer, Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Act as the quality checkpoint between engineering and production, ensuring that releases adhere to user-facing quality standards.

• Design and uphold scalable automation frameworks for backend services, APIs, and blockchain infrastructure.

• Formulate test strategies based on product requirements, user journeys, and practical usage scenarios.

• Construct and manage automated regression test suites.

• Validate software upgrades and handle version migrations.

• Incorporate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines while enhancing execution speed, reliability, and coverage.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to expedite test creation and refine QA workflows.

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to establish acceptance criteria and pinpoint quality risks.

• Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases, usability concerns, and unforeseen behavior.

• Assess defects, evaluate release risks, and decide if issues should impede production releases.

• Troubleshoot failures, replicate bugs, and generate comprehensive reports.

• Review code to enhance testability, maintainability, and reliability.

• Create and sustain technical documentation, test plans, testing standards, and release checklists.

• Advocate for a quality-first engineering culture and enhance QA processes and tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or in a comparable software quality engineering position.

• Proven experience in building and scaling QA automation for large-scale production systems, utilizing AI.

• Background in testing production software within Web3, blockchain, fintech, or high-reliability distributed systems.

• Practical experience with backend, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Strong expertise in Python for automation and API testing.

• Experience in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments.

• Capability to read and comprehend Rust code.

• Understanding of EVM-based systems.

• Knowledge of Bitcoin infrastructure, bridges, or zero-knowledge systems is a significant advantage.

• Solid grasp of regression testing, release management, and risk-based testing methodologies.

• Experience working alongside engineering and product teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar is highly preferred.

• Ability to balance technical rigor with practical product quality.

• A curious and analytical mindset toward complex distributed systems.

• Highly detail-oriented and methodical in defect investigation.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
