Senior IREG & Network Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the essential technical test gate for onboarding Mobile Network Operators.

• Establish detailed IREG testing strategies, pass/fail criteria, network tracing protocols, and formal approval processes for partner MNOs.

• Conduct comprehensive end-to-end roaming validation covering network registration, attachment sequences, S6a/S6d authentication, SGd SMS-over-NAS, and IP/NIDD data paths.

• Perform GSMA-defined roaming test suites.

• Create tailored validation test cases for Non-Terrestrial Networks.

• Develop and sustain automated test harnesses and a laboratory for GSMA and Skylo-specific routing scenarios.

• Examine Diameter/SS7 traces, device logs, and network logs to pinpoint configuration issues across Skylo, IPX, and MNO domains.

• Transform production and onboarding failures into consistent regression tests.

• Oversee defects through root cause analysis, remediation efforts, and retesting processes.

• Publish dashboards on test coverage, validation cycle time, defect rates, and market readiness.

• Collaborate with Signaling, Routing, Billing, NOC, and Product teams, as well as IPX vendors and MNO testing squads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in roaming validation, mobile core operations, interconnect routing, IREG testing, or telecommunications network testing.

• In-depth knowledge of Diameter routing and pertinent SS7/MAP concepts, including S6a/S6d, SGd, and roaming authentication/registration procedures.

• Advanced skills in protocol troubleshooting.

• Proficient in interpreting Wireshark traces to identify failures involving multiple external entities.

• Demonstrated experience in designing automated telecommunications testing frameworks utilizing Python or similar programming languages.

• Familiarity with integrating testing frameworks into modern CI/CD practices.

• Complete fluency in handling IR.21/RAEX data profiles, PLMN structures, IMSI records, and TADIG codes.

• Hands-on experience with NB-IoT, NTN satellite architectures, NIDD data paths, or cellular device lab environments.

• Knowledge of IMSI Tracing tools, carrier-grade Diameter/SS7 diagnostic platforms, Jira, and Confluence.

• Direct experience in integrating network signaling validation with TAP/BCE billing verification.

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (application requirement).
