Software Development Engineer in Test – Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Jamaica.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain automation frameworks for web, mobile, and backend systems.

• Oversee API and backend testing (REST, GraphQL, Postman, Swagger, etc.).

• Design and execute automated tests utilizing: - Web Automation: Cypress (JavaScript-based end-to-end testing) - Mobile Automation: Maestro (YAML-based with embedded JavaScript syntax for logic processing).

• Conduct both manual and automated functional, integration, and regression testing.

• Collaborate with developers and product managers to pinpoint risks and facilitate prompt defect resolution.

• Aid in deployment readiness, hotfix validation, and troubleshooting production issues.

• Establish and monitor quality metrics to enhance reliability and performance.

• Investigate, suggest, and apply best practices in test automation and quality engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in QA automation, SDET, or backend-centric testing.

• Demonstrated expertise in API and backend testing.

• 1–2 years of experience in mobile automation, preferably with Maestro or similar tools like Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.

• Proficiency in writing YAML-based automation scripts with lightweight JavaScript logic.

• Knowledge of mobile build tools (Android Studio, Xcode).

• Practical experience with automation tools (WebDriverIO, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent).

• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking systems (Jira, TestRail, or similar).

• Analytical mindset with the ability to craft test scenarios and datasets.

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a strong commitment to quality.
