This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Crafting and constructing automated test plans and test cases (low to moderate complexity) that address functional requirements for desktop, front-end (Web), back-end (API), and mobile applications.
• Setting up Continuous Integration/Continuous Development servers (Jenkins), which includes creating and managing jobs/pipelines to synchronize builds with automated testing.
• Conducting PR reviews of automated tests submitted by fellow team members to ensure code quality and coverage.
• Guaranteeing the stability of nightly automation runs through both proactive and reactive measures, and leading the oversight of nightly automation run reports.
• Demonstrating adequate proficiency in relevant Ignition product areas, ensuring comprehensive testing across all sections.
• Maintaining a strong understanding of the company, our primary software deliverable (Ignition), and our customer base.
• Working collaboratively with Developers, Product Managers, and QA Generalists to clarify requirements and provide insights on functionality, usability, and performance.
• Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects using issue tracking tools, ensuring clear communication and resolution processes.
• Keeping abreast of industry trends, tools, and technologies to continually improve testing strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering OR a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field.
• Must possess at least 2+ years of experience in a test automation engineering role.
• Experience with Test Automation frameworks in one of the following areas:
• Familiarity with creating automated test cases for Web application testing frameworks (Selenium WebDriver, PyTest, Cypress, or Playwright).
• Familiarity with developing test automation for Desktop/Swing applications using testing tools like (QFTest or UFT).
• Experience executing manual tests on mobile devices (iOS and Android) utilizing actual devices or emulators.
• Strong programming knowledge with at least one language, including comprehension of functions, conditional statements, and basic object-oriented concepts (Python, Java/JavaScript, C++, or TypeScript).
• Experience coding in at least one modern IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm).
• Familiarity with the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and its various phases.
• Proficient in source control management systems, such as Git, with common usage (cloning and checking out repositories and specific branches, commits, and handling merge conflicts).
• Experience setting up and querying SQL databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL, or similar).
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux (Ubuntu), and macOS platforms, including command-line operations and debugging issues with applications running as services.
• Experience deploying applications using virtualization software (VMWare, Docker Desktop), including creating images, debugging running containers, and managing persistent data (volumes).
• Familiarity with bug tracking systems and crafting accurate bug reports.
• Experience utilizing agentic AI in support of software quality activities, ensuring strategic implementation and proper governance.
• Experience writing automated test cases within well-known mobile test automation frameworks (XCTest, Espresso).
• Familiarity with tools for rapid application development and infrastructure deployment (Docker, Vagrant, Terraform, or similar).
• Proficient in debugging Java platform and Swing/JavaFX applications using JProfiler (or similar profiling tool).
• Experience with Maven and Gradle build tools, especially in coordinating builds with automated testing.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing industry and HMI/SCADA software.
