This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Collaborate with the team to develop high-quality production software.
• Design and create scalable, dependable services for ShipBob’s shipping platform.
• Construct and manage carrier integrations, rating, label generation, tracking, shipping compliance, and fulfillment workflows.
• Work closely with Product Owners and the Engineering Manager.
• Become a subject matter expert in a specific codebase area while also understanding the overall system architecture.
• Offer technical guidance, influence technical choices, and research and suggest new technologies.
• Define and organize work into clearly outlined milestones.
• Ensure timely software delivery and enhance estimation accuracy.
• Take ownership of technical testing and performance strategies.
• Recognize and address significant issues, coordinating around overarching technical challenges.
• Set direction at the project/service level and impact decision-making at the Pillar level.
• Actively manage technical debt.
• Elevate team performance through code reviews, documentation, technical mentoring, and Tech Lead responsibilities.
• Engage in the Architectural Review Board and assess projects beyond the core area.
• Balance technical, analytical, and product requirements when leading solutions.
• Identify technical challenges, propose solutions, communicate standards, and secure stakeholder buy-in.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong problem-solving, programming, and communication capabilities.
• An object-oriented approach to software development.
• Capacity to work swiftly and collaboratively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.
• Proven ability to manage features of varying sizes from design to implementation.
• Hands-on coding experience in engineering mentorship.
• A defensive coding mindset with awareness of OWASP standards.
• Ability to take charge of service-level system design.
• Demonstrated expertise in .NET (C#, ASP.NET MVC), SQL, and database design.
• Proficient in JavaScript, JSON, and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development and team leadership.
• Practical experience in automating infrastructure and build processes.
• Nice-to-have: experience in software quality testing (unit, integration, regression).
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of cross-service system design.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with AI-driven software development practices and workflows.
• Nice-to-have: experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI agents.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including Functions, WebJobs, App Services, Service Bus, Storage Queues, and DevOps.
• Nice-to-have: understanding of event-driven and service-oriented architecture.
