This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +26 more states.
• Collaborate with business and IT leaders to pinpoint and comprehend complex issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Work alongside development teams, business stakeholders, architects, and customers to grasp project requirements, deliver technical guidance, and address technical obstacles.
• Act as a key engineering and strategic implementation collaborator.
• Supervise code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, Premera standards, and architectural guidelines.
• Manage vendor relationships and provide final code approval.
• Examine project data and metrics to uncover trends, patterns, and areas requiring attention.
• Offer data-driven suggestions to enhance software delivery.
• Educate and enforce governance processes for company standards, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Promote engineering excellence and continuous automation, including testing for both cross-functional and intra-team initiatives.
• Serve as a technical and business authority, sharing expertise across teams and within the Premera developer community.
• Keep abreast of best practices, technological advancements, and organizational business requirements.
• Mentor and guide fellow engineers.
• Outline comprehensive healthcare testing requirements across programs and production operations.
• Map customer journeys and convert business processes into detailed test scenarios.
• Recognize edge cases, data dependencies, and compliance factors.
• Lead strategies for healthcare-specific test data, including data models and reusable datasets.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems (Required).
• A minimum of eight (8) years of software development experience (Required).
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Experience in the healthcare sector or a highly regulated environment (Strongly Preferred).
• Background working with cloud solutions (Preferred).
• Technical expertise and experience with Premera tools such as Facets or other relevant tools (Preferred).
• Prior experience in an Agile work environment (Preferred).
• Exposure to API and service-oriented technologies (Preferred).
• Experience with automated testing tools, both using and creating them (Preferred).
