Software Architect – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the implementation of a scalable, cloud-native target architecture for the comprehensive software platform.

• Establish architectural frameworks for scalable automated data ingestion processes.

• Deliver practical proof-of-concept projects alongside engineering teams utilizing SQL, PySpark, Serverless Python, or other relevant programming languages.

• Foster consistency in architecture, harmonize integrations, promote component reuse, and minimize technical debt.

• Serve as a subject matter expert in the design and execution of data governance practices.

• Set and uphold security standards for data platforms and infrastructure.

• Collaborate with Product Management to establish an application analytics strategy and comprehend related business domains.

• Assess and integrate new technologies, open-source solutions, and third-party applications into existing systems.

• Ensure high system availability, low latency, and reduce service outages to a minimum.

• Advocate for architectural best practices, educate engineering teams, and facilitate continuous improvement and developer empowerment.

• Contribute to the development of AI-driven agentic capabilities for the data platform, including data transformation and analytics.

• Report to the Architecture team while working closely with Product Management, Cloud Operations, Business Operations, and cross-functional engineering teams.

• Mentor engineering teams and act as a reliable technical advocate.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive background in data architecture with experience in making architectural and design choices in cloud data platforms within software-centric organizations.

• Significant expertise in data modeling and governance.

• Strong experience with Databricks or familiarity with another Spark-based lakehouse platform.

• Proficient in utilizing the modern data stack.

• Expertise in developing solutions using SQL and PySpark.

• Experience leveraging agentic AI in the software development lifecycle for enhanced efficiency.

• Familiarity with using GenAI for data workloads and analysis.

• Capability to design data schemas tailored for analytics and reporting needs.

• Proficient in structuring and processing both qualitative and quantitative data to assess total cost of ownership and make informed technology trade-offs.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and secure alignment across cross-functional teams.

• Competence in addressing complex technical challenges in unstructured or ambiguous settings.

• Experience in one or more areas such as security and access control, cloud operations and infrastructure, or third-party integrations.

• At least 15 years of experience in the software industry, including a minimum of 3 years in an architecture role.

• Preferred: hands-on experience in architecting solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Preferred: experience in developing and managing serverless workloads on public cloud platforms.

• Preferred: knowledge of infrastructure security protocols, data privacy regulations, and access control frameworks.

• Preferred: experience in developer empowerment, engineering mentorship, and CI/CD best practices.
