Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and create full-stack applications, AI-powered tools, SaaS products, APIs, and associated services.

• Define JSI's software architecture and development framework to swiftly transition concepts from prototype to MVP and then to production.

• Act as a hands-on architect, writing production-level code while offering technical guidance and architectural leadership.

• Create reusable application templates, components, libraries, APIs, AI services, and development tools.

• Set standards and best practices for AI-supported software development utilizing contemporary AI coding tools and agents.

• Construct and uphold development guardrails for the secure use of AI-generated code in production environments.

• Establish standards for architecture, coding, testing, documentation, code reviews, security, and deployment.

• Develop and sustain source control standards, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, dependency management, and release protocols.

• Architect and create AI applications utilizing LLMs, RAG, agents, MCP/tool integration, vector search, and external APIs.

• Design secure application architectures addressing authentication, authorization, secrets management, data protection, API security, and customer data isolation.

• Create scalable SaaS patterns, including multi-tenant architecture and integration with enterprise systems.

• Design solutions that incorporate geospatial/GIS systems relevant to telecom and broadband engineering projects.

• Assess new AI models, development tools, frameworks, cloud services, and technologies.

• Review software developed both internally and externally for architecture, security, maintainability, performance, and readiness for production.

• Collaborate with the CTO, product owners, subject-matter experts, and business leaders to convert business challenges into functional software.

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to internal developers as well as external technology and development partners.

• Establish a repeatable development environment that facilitates rapid MVP creation and eventual production deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in full-stack software development, architecting, and building production applications across front-end, back-end, database, API, cloud, security, and deployment layers.

• Strong practical software development abilities, particularly with Python and contemporary web application technologies.

• Experience with React, Next.js, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.

• Background in designing and developing APIs, backend services, and integrations.

• Significant experience with relational databases and modern application data architectures.

• Familiarity with deploying applications in Azure, AWS, or similar cloud environments.

• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing, containers, deployment, monitoring, and current DevOps practices.

• Solid understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, API security, secrets management, and secure software development methodologies.

• Experience in designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable production software.

• Capability to make informed architectural decisions while supporting rapid MVP development.

• Practical experience with generative AI technologies, including several of the following: LLM APIs, RAG, AI agents and tool calling, embeddings and vector databases, MCP, prompt and context engineering, AI application assessment and testing, AI security and data protection, and AI-assisted software development and coding agents.

• Experience utilizing AI coding tools to enhance professional software development while adhering to architecture, security, testing, documentation, and code review standards is highly preferred.
