Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance architectural solutions to boost performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Take ownership of the technical roadmap and architecture for major initiatives within the exchange.

• Maintain shared foundations, system boundaries, core patterns, and data contracts.

• Promote consistency in technologies and patterns across exchange services.

• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Platform, partner engineering teams, brokers, market makers, and clearing partners.

• Actively contribute to prototypes, proofs of concept, and production systems.

• Establish performance and reliability targets, leading load and resilience testing prior to peak events.

• Provide guidance on distributed-system patterns, fault tolerance, observability, and operational readiness.

• Manage operational health through automation and AI tools to identify and prevent issues.

• Assist in incident resolution and convert lessons learned into solutions for recurring failures.

• Identify and seek opportunities for platform cost efficiency.

• Conduct design reviews and offer technical expertise.

• Mentor engineers on architecture and effective utilization of AI tools.

• Identify, measure, and scale valuable AI applications within the domain.

• Establish guidelines for AI-assisted work.

• Ensure architectural decisions align with business priorities and long-term platform strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience in software engineering.

• Substantial experience in designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems in production environments.

• Experience with high-speed, high-volume transactional or event-driven systems where accuracy is as crucial as speed.

• A background in exchanges, trading, payments, or other financial systems is highly advantageous.

• Comprehensive knowledge of messaging and streaming systems.

• Hands-on expertise in Kafka is a significant advantage.

• Understanding of distributed state management, data splitting and sharding, in-memory versus durable storage, and consistency trade-offs.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization, and orchestration.

• Comfortable working with both Go and .NET/C# stacks.

• Knowledge of FIX, gRPC, and Protobuf.

• Experience in integrating with third-party systems.

• Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.

• Proficient in continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure as code, observability tools, load testing, and capacity projections.

• Practical experience utilizing AI tools in production, including coding assistants, agents, automated reviews, and analysis.

• Capability to assess the economics of AI-based solutions versus building or buying options.

• Exposure to regulated software environments, focusing on auditability, data sensitivity, and compliance.

• Clear and structured communication skills, with the ability to document decisions and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.

• A passion for mentoring engineers and enhancing engineering standards.
