Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance architectural solutions to boost system performance, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

• Design and improve frameworks, tools, and engineering standards that promote system resilience and long-term maintainability.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to integrate sound architectural principles into planning, design, and execution.

• Engage hands-on in essential initiatives, including prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and production systems that showcase scalable and maintainable design.

• Guide teams in the adoption of robust distributed system patterns, ensuring that fault tolerance, observability, and operational maturity are incorporated from the outset.

• Offer insightful design reviews and technical guidance that elevate engineering quality and consistency.

• Work with engineering leaders to synchronize architectural decisions with business priorities and long-term platform strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

• A minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience in designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems within production environments.

• Demonstrated experience in owning architectural components of high-availability, mission-critical platforms.

• Strong knowledge of scalable design patterns, performance optimization, reliability engineering, and contemporary cloud-based architectures.

• Proficient in modern development practices, such as continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.

• Experience in collaborating across teams to deliver cross-functional technical initiatives aimed at enhancing system stability, scalability, or efficiency.

• Excellent, structured communication skills with the ability to document architectural decisions and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A strong passion for mentoring engineers, providing constructive design feedback, and continuously enhancing engineering standards.
