This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Design and enhance scalable software architectures for enterprise-level applications.
• Lead efforts to modernize legacy monolithic systems into cloud-native microservices utilizing patterns such as Strangler Fig, Change Data Capture (CDC), and event-driven architectures.
• Create production-ready software with Java (Spring Boot), Laravel (PHP), and React.
• Design RESTful APIs and asynchronous integrations leveraging Kafka and Amazon SQS.
• Define service boundaries, data ownership, and communication strategies within distributed systems.
• Architect and implement cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.
• Actively engage in coding, design reviews, and technical implementation.
• Conduct code reviews and advocate for engineering best practices across development teams.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and promote long-term improvements.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment strategies, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Foster continuous improvements in architecture, development processes, and system observability.
• 8+ years of experience in designing and developing enterprise software solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Professional experience in developing applications using Laravel (PHP) and React.
• In-depth understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
• Extensive experience in designing distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
• Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, including Microservices, Modular Monoliths, Strangler Fig, CDC, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and RESTful APIs.
• Experience in implementing asynchronous communication using Kafka and/or Amazon SQS.
• Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with Debezium or other CDC technologies.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns (GoF) and architectural best practices.
• Experience with AWS services, including ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Systems Manager Parameter Store.
• Proven experience troubleshooting complex production environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary DevOps practices.
