Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance scalable software architectures for enterprise-level applications.

• Lead the transformation of legacy monolithic systems into cloud-native microservices utilizing patterns such as Strangler Fig, Change Data Capture (CDC), and event-driven architectures.

• Create production-ready software employing Java (Spring Boot), Laravel (PHP), and React.

• Design RESTful APIs and implement asynchronous integrations using Kafka and Amazon SQS.

• Establish service boundaries, data ownership, and communication strategies within distributed systems.

• Architect and deploy cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.

• Engage actively in coding, design reviews, and technical execution.

• Conduct code reviews and advocate for engineering best practices across development teams.

• Diagnose production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term enhancements.

• Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment strategies, monitoring, and operational excellence.

• Mentor engineers and offer technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Propel continuous improvements in architecture, development processes, and system observability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in designing and developing enterprise software solutions.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Java and Spring Boot.

• Professional experience in creating applications with Laravel (PHP) and React.

• Profound understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.

• Extensive experience in designing distributed systems and cloud-native applications.

• Strong comprehension of architectural patterns, including Microservices, Modular Monoliths, Strangler Fig, CDC, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and RESTful APIs.

• Experience in implementing asynchronous communication with Kafka and/or Amazon SQS.

• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB.

• Experience with Debezium or other CDC technologies.

• Solid grasp of software design patterns (GoF) and architectural best practices.

• Experience with AWS services, including ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Systems Manager Parameter Store.

• Proven experience troubleshooting complex production environments.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary DevOps practices.

• Experience in modernizing large-scale monolithic applications.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of observability tools like New Relic, CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation).

• Familiarity with Redis or distributed caching solutions.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
