Social Media Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Publish daily content, including articles, newsletters, podcasts, and videos on X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit.

• Develop platform-specific quote cards, carousels, stories, and clips derived from reporting, analysis, and podcasts.

• Review podcast and video episodes to pinpoint noteworthy segments for clipping and create clips for social media.

• Monitor comments, direct messages, and replies; highlight audience inquiries and recurring themes for the editorial team.

• Enhance the publication's visibility within relevant Reddit communities.

• Track platform performance metrics and provide weekly reports on outcomes and their implications.

• Generate three to five innovative ideas for formats, platforms, or content each week.

• Engage in weekly editorial meetings and adhere to established editorial workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, or a recent graduate.

• Minimum of one year of experience managing social media for something other than a personal account.

• Proficient understanding of the dynamics of X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit.

• Strong judgment in identifying quotes, clips, or framing that is likely to gain traction.

• Familiarity with The Dispatch and its position in the contemporary media landscape.

• Basic knowledge of graphic design or video editing tools, or a willingness to learn swiftly.

• Genuine enthusiasm for politics and policy issues.

• Adequate news literacy to identify significant developments.

• Ability to work autonomously and respond quickly when news breaks.
