Small Animal Internal Medicine Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Provide live phone consultations to veterinary clients regarding laboratory results, diagnostic tests, and treatment alternatives.

• Assist clinicians in proper specimen handling methods and pinpoint factors that may affect test accuracy.

• Offer guidance on IDEXX reference laboratory tests, encompassing specimen requirements, clinical relevance, and result interpretation.

• Support clients with Point-of-Care diagnostics including SNAP tests, VetTest, CatalystDX, LaserCyte, and ProCyte systems.

• Oversee a consistent caseload while adhering to turnaround time expectations and ensuring availability during scheduled hours.

• Enhance and expand clinical knowledge through continuing education and by staying updated with current veterinary literature.

• Engage in regular consulting service meetings as well as broader IDEXX training or organizational sessions.

• Accurately document consultation interactions within the CRM system.

• Maintain an active board certification and relevant veterinary licensure.

⛳️ Requirements

• DVM (or equivalent veterinary degree) with ACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine) board certification (DACVIM, SAIM) or its equivalent.

• Active veterinary license (state or provincial, as applicable).

• Strong clinical proficiency in small animal internal medicine and diagnostic interpretation.

• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex medical information over the phone.

• Comfortable working in a remote, technology-enabled setting with a dedicated office space and high-speed internet.

• Commitment to maintaining Diplomate status and engaging in ongoing continuing education.

• Capable of managing multiple consultations and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are advantageous.
