
SIU Investigator – Auto & Property Claims

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +6 more states.
• Examine potentially fraudulent claims related to auto and homeowners insurance.
• Assess intricate auto and homeowners claims for signs of potential fraud.
• Create and implement investigation strategies for both first- and third-party claims involving property damage, bodily injury, uninsured motorist claims, and related risks.
• Conduct or manage investigations through vendors, independent investigators, and various other resources.
• Gather and analyze interviews, statements, records, inspections, photographs, expert reports, and other forms of evidence.
• Ensure that investigations adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and fair claims handling practices.
• Evaluate evidence and make recommendations regarding claim dispositions.
• Collaborate with claims professionals, customer service teams, insured parties, claimants, attorneys, vendors, law enforcement agencies, State Fraud Bureaus, and the NICB.
• Process policy and customer transactions using various systems and databases.
• Review SIU referrals and formulate strategic investigation plans.
• Maintain claim documentation, investigative reports, and file notes.
• Monitor investigations until resolution and identify claim exposures and risks.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and management summaries.
• Generate recurring reports and update SIU databases with results from investigations.
• Assist in fraud awareness training programs.
• Conduct file reviews and mentor or guide claims professionals.
• Stay informed about fraud trends, regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years of claims experience with a solid technical understanding of first- and third-party property and bodily injury claims.
• At least 3 years of experience in a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) or in insurance fraud investigations.
• Proven ability to carry out comprehensive, timely, and effective fraud investigations.
• Extensive knowledge of insurance contracts, claims practices, state regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Preferred: coursework in fraud law or a related discipline.
• Preferred: experience with California SIU regulations.
• Preferred: professional industry designations such as FCLA, SCLA, AIC, or equivalent certifications.
