Site Reliability Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Recruit, mentor, and establish clear objectives for the SRE team

• Collaborate with service owners to define SLOs and implement the error budget policy

• Operate the observability platform continuously in production, encompassing SLOs and platform alerting

• Create deployment guardrails such as canary rollouts and automated rollback procedures

• Identify partner degradation proactively through synthetic monitoring and vendor scorecards

• Streamline manual incident tasks, including documenting incident timelines and preparing status updates

• Transform post-mortem insights and incident trends into comprehensive platform enhancements

• Monitor SLO achievement and metrics related to member-facing reliability

• Provide guidance to product engineering teams on reliability matters

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure engineering positions

• At least 3 years in leadership roles within engineering

• In-depth understanding of SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets

• Practical experience in instrumenting Java, Python, and Go services using OpenTelemetry

• Proficient in using Terraform

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and Java

• Experience with canary rollouts, automated rollback, and auto-scaling techniques

• Understanding of reliability patterns including retries, backoffs, DLQs, the transactional outbox, and feature flags

• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage expectations, especially during incidents and retrospectives

• Proven experience in conducting blameless retrospectives that reveal the root causes of complex problems
