Int Database Reliability Engineer, DBRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot a cloud-based MySQL database infrastructure that supports a critical SaaS application.

• Automate workflows and create code to minimize operational burden.

• Work collaboratively with Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams on new product launches and ensuring robust database integration.

• Track MySQL database metrics to confirm that performance and reliability targets are achieved.

• Recognize operational inefficiencies and establish automations and processes for managing MySQL systems at scale.

• Implement data-driven performance enhancements, availability upgrades, and operational efficiencies.

• Assist Engineering and SRE teams with database migrations, query optimization, schema/design enhancements, and standardized MySQL configuration and deployment methods.

• Support the DBA team in diagnosing performance issues and conducting root-cause analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with relational database systems.

• Extensive hands-on experience with MySQL administration, performance optimization, replication, and high availability/disaster recovery.

• At least 1 year in a Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) or database-centric engineering position.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with a preference for Azure.

• Experience in coding and automation using Python, PowerShell, SQL, or comparable languages.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Ansible and Terraform.

• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.

• Experience managing Very Large Databases (VLDBs) exceeding 1 TB.

• Proven track record in handling extensive database fleets with over 100 instances.

• Proficient in scripting or programming languages, including PowerShell, C#, SQL, and Python.

• Availability for on-call or after-hours support is necessary.

• Experience with PostgreSQL is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Git, Jira, Azure Cloud, Grafana, and NoSQL technologies is a plus.
