Site Reliability Engineer, Linux

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Automate the lifecycle management of Linux hosts, encompassing configuration, patching, and image creation.

• Transfer Ansible components from the current monorepo into dedicated, purpose-driven repositories.

• Troubleshoot intricate production problems across operating systems, performance metrics, and service layers.

• Design, develop, and enhance infrastructure tools.

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to integrate FedRAMP standards into infrastructure-as-code.

• Lead the transition of workloads to Kubernetes clusters by refining container base images and host configurations.

• Take ownership of the reliability of critical infrastructure from start to finish.

• Assist in maintaining the stability of over 6,000 servers throughout the Kubernetes transition.

• Promote the reduction of operational toil and the modernization of infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent related work experience.

• Over 5 years of experience working with Linux in a production setting.

• Proficiency in Python or Ruby for the purposes of infrastructure automation and scripting.

• Familiarity with Ansible for large-scale configuration management.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex system issues across operating systems, performance, and service layers.

• Preferred experience in managing Kubernetes clusters and containerization (Docker).

• Knowledge of systems-level programming languages such as Go or C is preferred.

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP or NIST is preferred.

• Ability to lead technical projects from vague requirements to production is preferred.

• Must be a U.S. Person for work in FedRAMP High or IL-5 environments.

• May be required to engage in work restricted to U.S. citizens on U.S. soil.
