Reliability Engineer / DevOps – Database Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Oversee and ensure the reliability and availability of essential database systems for the business.

• Support databases that manage terabytes of data, guaranteeing stable performance in production settings.

• Conduct and assist with database version upgrades, patching, and maintenance tasks.

• Strategize and carry out data migrations with a strong emphasis on availability, integrity, and risk management.

• Investigate production issues, performance declines, and reliability incidents.

• Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability for database systems and associated infrastructure.

• Streamline operational and infrastructure processes through automation where suitable.

• Collaborate with infrastructure and database teams to bolster resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Engage in root cause analysis and contribute to preventive measures in the aftermath of incidents.

• Maintain and refine operational procedures, runbooks, and reliability practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Database Operations.

• Solid understanding of database management and concepts related to database reliability.

• Experience in supporting large-scale or business-critical production systems.

• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools.

• Knowledge of performance monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident management.

• Experience with data migrations and/or database upgrades.

• Proficient in Linux and troubleshooting infrastructure-related issues.

• Capable of working independently and taking charge of production reliability matters.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with AWS.

• Nice to have: Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.

• Nice to have: Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.

• Nice to have: Previous experience with Oracle Databases.

• Nice to have: Experience managing databases at a terabyte scale.

• Nice to have: Background in Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) or SRE environments.

• Nice to have: Experience supporting systems within the financial services or other highly regulated sectors.
