Sessional Ombudsman, Investment & Advice

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Address intricate disputes related to Investment & Advice.

• Collaborate closely with regulatory bodies, industry representatives, and consumer advocates.

• Play a vital role in ensuring fair and prompt resolution of disputes.

• Utilize judgment, experience, and leadership in making decisions on complaints.

• Articulate decisions clearly to both firms and complainants.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.

• Assist in tackling significant issues impacting the investment and advice sector.

• Promote outcomes that enhance standards within the industry.

• Engage in commitments that may vary from weekly interactions over several months to occasional days per month or long-term engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Legal qualifications complemented by senior executive experience.

• Background in financial planning, stockbroking, managed funds, cryptocurrency, or derivatives.

• Proficiency in at least one area of Investment & Advice complaints.

• Experience with tribunals, External Dispute Resolution (EDR) schemes, regulatory organizations, related businesses, or private practice.

• Strong analytical abilities to navigate complex matters and manage a demanding caseload.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to simplify and explain intricate concepts.

• Proficiency in verbally communicating decisions to firms and complainants.

• Capacity to coach and mentor junior staff effectively.

• High resilience and focus to manage challenges and public scrutiny.
