Sessional Ombudsman, Investment & Advice

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Address intricate complaints and disputes related to Investment & Advice.

• Collaborate closely with regulatory bodies, industry representatives, and consumer advocates.

• Aid in achieving fair and prompt resolutions for disputes.

• Utilize judgement, expertise, and leadership to enhance the Investment & Advice sector.

• Communicate decisions verbally to firms and complainants.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.

• Handle complex matters while managing a demanding caseload.

• Engage in various commitments, ranging from weekly engagements over several months to occasional days per month or longer-term projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possession of legal qualifications coupled with senior executive experience.

• Experience in financial planning, stockbroking, managed funds, cryptocurrency, or derivatives.

• Background in tribunals, EDR schemes, regulatory agencies, related business entities, or private practice.

• Knowledge in at least one pertinent Investment & Advice area is essential; familiarity with multiple areas is highly desirable.

• Strong analytical capabilities to navigate complex issues and manage a busy caseload.

• High-level proficiency in written and verbal communication.

• Capability to simplify complex concepts for better understanding.

• Ability to verbally convey decisions to both firms and complainants.

• Capacity to coach and mentor junior staff effectively.

• Strong resilience and focus to navigate challenges and public scrutiny.
