This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Support in handling intricate and substantial banking and finance disputes.
• Exercise sound judgement and analyze multifaceted legal matters.
• Collaborate with seasoned Ombudsmen, attorneys, and industry specialists.
• Render independent, equitable, and impartial decisions.
• Influence outcomes that affect consumers, small enterprises, and the financial services industry.
• Act as a Board-appointed Ombudsman for a term of three years.
• Engage on a per-engagement basis.
• Proven senior lawyer, previous Partner, barrister, executive legal leader, or banking and finance expert.
• Extensive knowledge of the banking and finance sector.
• Strong history of accomplishments.
• Proficient in navigating intricate legal and commercial challenges.
• Background in banking regulation, Banking Codes of Practice, contract law, insolvency, securities, lending, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and show empathy.
• Capacity to maintain independence while fostering collaboration.
• Dedication to fair, objective outcomes and upholding high standards of integrity and impartiality.
• Legal qualifications are required.
• Significant senior-level experience in banking and finance, a tribunal, regulator, external dispute resolution scheme, or a related setting.
