This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Support complex and significant banking and finance disputes on a case-by-case basis.
• Utilize legal knowledge, sound judgment, and analysis of intricate legal matters.
• Collaborate effectively with seasoned Ombudsmen, attorneys, and industry specialists.
• Provide independent, equitable, and well-reasoned decisions.
• Influence outcomes that affect consumers, small enterprises, and the financial services industry.
• Act as a Board-appointed Ombudsman for a term of three years.
• Legal qualifications.
• Extensive senior-level experience in banking and finance, tribunals, regulatory bodies, external dispute resolution schemes, or similar environments.
• Profound knowledge of banking regulation, Banking Codes of Practice, contract law, insolvency, securities, lending, and dispute resolution.
• Strong judgment and a proven record of accomplishments.
• Ability to navigate intricate legal and commercial challenges with credibility, pragmatism, and fairness.
• Proficient in communicating with influence and empathy.
• Capacity to maintain independence while collaborating with others.
• Dedication to fair, objective outcomes and the highest levels of integrity and impartiality.
• Accomplished senior lawyer, former Partner, barrister, executive legal leader, or a professional in banking and finance.
