Sessional Ombudsman, Banking and Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Support in handling intricate and significant banking and finance disputes on a per-engagement basis.

• Utilize legal acumen, sound judgement, and thorough analysis of complex legal matters.

• Collaborate effectively with seasoned Ombudsmen, attorneys, and industry specialists.

• Leverage specialized resources, research capabilities, and frameworks for dispute resolution.

• Provide independent, fair, and balanced decisions.

• Contribute to impactful outcomes for consumers, small businesses, and the financial services industry.

⛳️ Requirements

• Accomplished senior legal professional, former Partner, barrister, executive legal leader, or banking and finance expert.

• Extensive expertise in the banking and finance sector.

• Proven sound judgement and a strong history of success.

• Familiarity with banking regulations, Banking Codes of Practice, contract law, insolvency, securities, lending, and dispute resolution.

• Capability to navigate complex legal and commercial issues with credibility, pragmatism, and fairness.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, coupled with empathy.

• Ability to maintain a balance between independence and collaboration.

• Dedication to achieving fair, objective outcomes while upholding the highest standards of integrity and impartiality.

• Legal qualifications are required.

• Significant senior-level experience within banking and finance, a tribunal, regulator, external dispute resolution scheme, or a related field.

• Capacity to thrive in a flexible, per-engagement work environment.
