This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Executes installations, repairs, and maintenance activities on laboratory instruments and equipment following a diverse range of procedures.
• Inspects, tests, and adjusts malfunctioning components and parts as needed.
• Calibrates laboratory instruments to ensure safe and precise operations in accordance with standards and specifications.
• Documents and reports on calibration activities, repairs, and product failures.
• Offers technical support and training to customers regarding the operational and maintenance aspects of the equipment.
• Acts as the primary customer liaison for issues related to equipment and instruments.
• Travels to customer locations to provide services, including installations, maintenance, or calibrations.
• Modifies equipment and technology to meet user requirements.
• Provides technical assistance to customers concerning instrumentation.
• Records and reports all repairs and product failures diligently.
• Suggests recommendations for equipment and improvements.
• Aids in the creation of preventative maintenance procedures, including IQ, OQ, and PQ for the division.
• Carries out a sequence of testing and calibration programs for instruments and equipment according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, standard operating procedures, and other specifications.
• Diagnoses equipment failures (breakdowns) and performs repairs following manufacturers' guidelines.
• Conducts preventative and corrective maintenance on test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
• Collaborates with clients, group leaders, and other technical personnel to facilitate equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
• Analyzes and converts test data using mathematical formulas, reporting the results and proposed adjustments.
• Sets up test equipment and performs tests on instruments and equipment.
• Disassembles and reassembles instruments and equipment using hand tools, inspecting them for defects.
• Sketches designs for developing jigs, fixtures, instruments, and related nonstandard apparatus.
• Modifies the performance and operation of component parts to specifications, utilizing test equipment and precision instruments.
• Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to assess quality or performance.
• Regularly consults with clients regarding the usage, placement, and potential future needs of the equipment.
• Recommends corrective actions to customers when necessary.
• Trains customers on the proper use of the equipment.
• Maintains technical proficiency through ongoing manufacturer certification and continuing education.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Chemistry is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience is required.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, IQ/OQ/PV, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, Spectrophotometer, as well as electronic and mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.
• Strong analytical skills – Able to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
