This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Executes installation, repair, and maintenance activities on laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with diverse procedures.
• Examines, tests, and modifies malfunctioning components and parts.
• Calibrates laboratory instruments to ensure safe and precise operations, adhering to established standards and specifications.
• Records and reports on calibration activities, repairs, and product failures.
• Offers technical assistance and training to customers regarding operational or maintenance aspects of the equipment.
• Acts as the primary customer liaison for equipment and instrument-related issues.
• Travels to customer locations to deliver services, including installations, maintenance, or calibrations.
• Adjusts equipment and technology to meet user requirements.
• Provides technical support to customers concerning instrumentation.
• Documents and reports all repairs and instances of product failure.
• Suggests recommendations for equipment and improvements.
• Aids in the creation of preventative maintenance procedures, IQ, OQ, and PQ for the division.
• Implements a sequence of testing and calibration programs for instruments and equipment based on blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, standard operating procedures, and other specifications.
• Diagnoses equipment failures (breakdowns) and performs repairs according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Conducts preventative and corrective maintenance on test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
• Collaborates with clients, group leaders, and other technical personnel to support equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
• Analyzes and converts test data using mathematical formulas, reporting results and proposed modifications.
• Sets up testing equipment and performs tests on instruments and equipment.
• Disassembles and reassembles instruments and equipment using hand tools, inspecting them for defects.
• Drafts plans for the development of jigs, fixtures, instruments, and related nonstandard apparatus.
• Modifies the performance and operation of component parts to meet specifications using test equipment and precision instruments.
• Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to assess quality or performance.
• Regularly consults with clients regarding the usage, placement, and potential future requirements of the equipment.
• Advises customers on corrective actions when necessary.
• Trains customers on the proper use of the equipment.
• Maintains technical expertise through ongoing manufacturer certifications and continuing education.
• Performs other assigned duties.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Chemistry preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience is required.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, IQ/OQ/PV, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, Spectrophotometer, and both electronic and mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, applications, repair, and maintenance.
• Strong analytical skills – Ability to comprehend the implications of new information for resolving current and future problems and making decisions.
