This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety protocols in all activities, aiming for zero incidents.
• Actively assist in identifying Environmental, Health and Safety hazards and risks, working with the relevant resources to mitigate incident risks.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders in Operations, Engineering, and Business teams.
• Conduct benchmarking for asset health and performance related to pulp and bleaching operations, and aid in formulating and executing plans to enhance performance.
• Evaluate existing systems and create strategies to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, asset uptime, quality, and manufacturing costs while collaborating across facilities and support teams.
• Partner with remote monitoring teams to develop and refine monitoring strategies for asset health and operations.
• Assist with facility outages from planning and scoping through to execution (typically on-site), ensuring compliance with maintenance planning, execution, and GP standards.
• Recognize capital improvement opportunities and collaborate with sites and engineering teams on the development, execution, commissioning, and startup of capital projects.
• Generate value through technical support across multiple mill operations, serving as a trusted resource in their daily functions.
• Provide “urgent care,” both remotely and in person, when necessary to resolve operational disruptions and issues in facilities.
• Actively contribute to the Technical Development Program (TDP) for engineers and leaders in pulp and bleaching by mentoring, delivering on-site training, developing training materials, and conducting board review assessments of trainees.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of Design, Operate, and Maintain (DOM) standards for related systems and assets in pulp and bleaching operations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with DOM standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in pulp and bleaching operations engineering.
• Understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of assets within the scope of responsibility.
• Proven experience in process improvement and optimization.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and implementation of project activities.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, occasionally on short notice.
