This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.
• Spearhead the advancement of Render’s Analytics Engineering platform.
• Create, develop, and uphold governed dbt models as the definitive sources for essential business metrics.
• Establish and enhance practices for data modeling, testing, documentation, version control, CI/CD, and code reviews.
• Evaluate significant dbt changes and minimize technical debt within the analytics codebase.
• Design and sustain semantic and context layers to ensure consistent metrics, data exploration, and dependable analysis for both humans and AI tools.
• Collaborate with analysts, scientists, data engineers, and various teams across Product, Engineering, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other business areas.
• Convert domain-specific business logic into scalable and maintainable warehouse models.
• Work alongside Data Engineering to enhance source data quality, warehouse architecture, BigQuery performance, and cost efficiency.
• Guide analysts, scientists, and analytics engineers in dbt development, dimensional modeling, and engineering best practices.
• Establish the technical direction and shared standards for Analytics Engineering at Render.
• Over 7 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical domain.
• A minimum of 3 years of practical experience operating dbt in a production environment.
• Proficient SQL skills at an expert level.
• Proven history of designing and managing scalable Kimball dimensional models.
• In-depth knowledge of Git, testing, CI/CD, documentation, data contracts, lineage, and governance.
• Experience in constructing semantic and context layers, trusted metrics, and warehouse architectures for self-service analytics accessible to both humans and AI agents.
• Strong comprehension of contemporary cloud data warehouse architecture, performance enhancement, and cost efficiency.
• Familiarity with BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Demonstrable experience in setting technical standards, influencing engineering practices without formal authority, and enhancing reliability while minimizing technical debt.
• Capability to collaborate with analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to convert requirements into scalable, maintainable data models.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of explicating complex technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in developing data models that connect product usage, acquisition, CRM, and financial data throughout the customer lifecycle.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding or analytics tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code.

• Preferred qualifications: experience with BigQuery, Segment, dbt, Metabase, or Mixpanel; involvement with developer-focused, product-led, sales-led, or usage-based businesses; knowledge of cloud infrastructure, PaaS, developer tooling, or technically complex products.
