Senior Vice President, Strategic Transaction – Energy, Hyperscale

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage QTS's most intricate and strategic commercial transactions concerning hyperscale clients, energy procurement, and infrastructure partnerships.

• Take charge of enterprise-level negotiations for hyperscale site agreements, encompassing land, power, and long-term commercial frameworks that facilitate scalable growth.

• Spearhead the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and other energy procurement frameworks, ensuring they align with capacity requirements, cost efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

• Design and negotiate innovative commercial agreements across utilities, developers, customers, and capital partners to unlock constrained markets and speed up deployment.

• Collaborate closely with the Finance team to guarantee all agreements fulfill underwriting criteria, return thresholds, and capital allocation priorities.

• Merge transaction strategy with Development, Investments, and Energy teams to synchronize timing, risk, and execution of significant deals.

• Assess and structure complex, multi-variable transactions that balance commercial terms, risk allocation, regulatory considerations, and long-term scalability.

• Create and uphold transaction playbooks, negotiation strategies, and governance frameworks to enhance consistency and efficiency at scale.

• Act as the executive lead for high-impact negotiations with hyperscale customers, utilities, and strategic partners.

• Offer clear, executive-level recommendations on deal structures, trade-offs, and risk implications to senior leadership.

• Anticipate market trends, competitive dynamics, and evolving customer needs to strategically position QTS in negotiations.

• Ensure all transactions adhere to QTS's standards for operational feasibility, financial discipline, and long-term value creation.

• Lead, develop, and influence cross-functional deal teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, JD, or relevant graduate degree) preferred.

• Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in strategic transactions, infrastructure, energy, hyperscale data center development, or related fields.

• Proven track record in leading complex, high-value commercial negotiations, including hyperscale site agreements, energy procurement frameworks, and long-term partnership deals.

• Established ability to structure and execute sophisticated transactions involving multiple stakeholders while balancing financial, operational, and regulatory factors.

• Strong financial acumen with experience collaborating with finance teams on underwriting, capital allocation, and investment decision-making.

• Experience in negotiating Power Purchase Agreements or similar energy-related commercial frameworks preferred.

• Demonstrated capability to influence senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders in a high-growth, capital-intensive environment.

• Experience engaging across multiple geographies and markets, including interactions with utilities, developers, and external partners.

• Comprehensive understanding of risk allocation, contract governance, and regulatory considerations in large-scale infrastructure or energy-related transactions.
